For as long as I can remember, egg has been vilified because it was believed that too much consumption can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. The traditional food pyramid told us to eat no more than two eggs per week! The reason behind this is because one large egg has about 186 mg of cholesterol, and the more egg you eat, the higher your cholesterol level, right?

Not necessarily, according to research. For most people, the amount of saturated fat they eat has much more of an impact on their cholesterol than eating foods that contain cholesterol, like eggs and shellfish.

In general, there is currently no limit on the number of eggs that you can eat in a week. Because the recommendation has changed over the years, it’s often a common source of confusion. So unless you have been advised otherwise by your doctor or dietician, if you like eggs, they can be included as part of a balanced and varied diet.
