The human body is an amazing collection of various complex systems and sub-systems. It’s designed with movement and a lot of it in mind. Not just simple movements, but movements that are intense enough to cause muscle contractions. You see, prolonged periods of inactivity can be harmful to your health because you’re depriving yourself of muscle contractions and body movement.
Muscle contractions aid in stimulating blood flow which remove toxins from the body through the lymphatic system, an intricate filtering system in our bodies. Muscle contractions are important to help clear triglycerides (fat) and glucose from our bloodstream. Animal studies have suggested that animals at rest for prolonged periods of time show decreased ability to break down fat as a result of decreased enzymatic activity of certain lipases.
Imagine not cleaning your house for a week. Picture the state it will be in at the end of the week. But the human body is more like hostel with different groups of people checking in, checking out and using the facilities at various times throughout the week. What state would the building be in if it’s not cleaned at least daily?
Get up and move!
